Moving from CRT to LCD

In my quest to source a Sony FW900 I've failed and as I spend most of my time watching films on my PC my 930sb justwon't do as I get really annoyed half the screen isn't being used when I'm playing widescreen material.

I'd like at least a 19" widescreen if not bigger. I haven't got a massive budget but if I go for a bigger LCD I'd be willing to pay more.

Does anyone also have any idea on the optimum viewing distances for certainsize LCDs as I'd like to use it from my bed which is about 1 metre away.

Athestetics will also play a big part and a few monitors have caught my eye like those Dells and a Daewoo HL920W although this isbased purely on looks.

I'm in the progress up upgrading from my 930sb (legendary screen, but its starting to beak down) the LCD screen I chose to go for is the SM-226BW from here as it looks good, nice and sleek, and people here seem to be very very happy with it, I have it orderd for when they get more stock

It is a bit expencive but I wanted something that could match up to the standards of my CRT or there abouts.

Well thats my 2cents on screens

I'd love to be able to get something like that but My budget says otherwise.

If your looking for a good 19" widescreen I recommend the Hanns-G 19" Widescreen http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-017-OK&tool=3

It's had excellent reviews and Hanns-G make a lot of the panels in LCD's.

The Belinea 19" may better suit your needs, i think it's slightly more atractive than the Hanns G.

It doesn't have DVI, however, but people who have bought it say that it still produces an excellent image. It also has a slightly higher contrast ratio which may be better when watching films.

If you can stretch your budget a little further then you could get a good 20" screen for around £200. I've recently ordered a Dell 2007WFP for £220 inc del. from another retailer.

I'll have a word with someone in a design office I know. They're going from the FW900's to 30" TFT's soon.

See if I can find out when they are moving across and find out whats happening with the old kit.

I'm after another couple myself.
