Hello Guys,

I am upgrading my E6700 to a i7 3770K tomorrow, I obviously got a z77 asus mobo and a Mushkin 8GB DDR3, I got heatsink too, but that is it. Will my current PSU work with it okay? I got the PSU in 2006 (550W) with my Conroe build, and am hoping it fits the new mobo without a hitch.

This might sound stupid, but do mobo's still come with copper spacers too? I have a Antec P180 and am sure I don't have any spacers left over.

Finally.. am I going to see a good deal of difference in my general PC experience? I look forward to hearing your thoughts :)

Ive just upgraded from an E6700 to a 3770K. My 620w Eneramax Liberty psu works fine. The 3770 is much faster than the E6700 you will be very pleased with the upgrade.

Sold my old gear on the bay and got £45 for my cpu plus postage and the same for my Asus P5WDH mobo, really didnt think they would fetch that.

You and I must have got ours around the same time lol. I got the same mobo before too. I think i'll use the gear for another rig.

Woah.. what a difference, I am really shocked at how fast everything is.. I did get a 120GB SSD too to go with it, but am really impressed thus far :)

I went from a Conroe (more modest E6400) to a i52500K (also running an SSD) and have been bowled over by the difference. The advantage of a dramatic upgrade is you can feel the value. Must get rid of the mobo if they go for that, I have it in its old box gathering dust on the PC graveyard shelf!

i have also just upgraded from e6750 with the nvida p5ne, to IVY 3770k, 8gb gskill ripjawx, Gigabyte Z77X UD5H, loving the bios on the mobo,
but when i got all the bits, and switched it on the mobo light was just flashing, nothing was booting, so i thought it was a dead mobo ,
turns out that the old 500w emmermax psu i had, didnt have enough amps, so bought a 700 emmermax cost me £159, and it worked 1st time, but all good now, and i think it was a long over due upgrade!

Does anyone know reliable core temperature measurement software? Both the bios probe and speedfan are showing 17C on a coolermaster fan.. surely this cannot be possible? I played tribes for a good few hours too :\

One final think, for the Antec P180 is there a good caddy to hold the SSD drive? At the moment its precariously held free.. The antec doesn't come with your usual connectors so the 3.5 adapter was a bit of a waste :(

Get some double sided tape and stick behind your motherboard tray.
