Hello OCUK!s

Quick question - Moved from a G110 Logitech today to a Corsair K70 (Cherry Reds) and find it a very odd typing experience, keep pressing the wrong keys and find it much more of a clunk when typing rather than the spongy membrane feel I'm used too (This is my first mech keyboard)

Is this something you get used to with Mechanical keyboards overtime because at the moment I have'nt had that magical "Wow Mechanical is so much better moment yet." Wondering when I will :D

Also that noise!

Also just switched from a membrane to a mechanical board, (g15 - ozone strike pro, red switches). Does indeed take a bit of getting used to but i couldn't go back to a membrane board again.

Hi,

What makes you not want to go back to a membrane keyboard? What are the benefits of mechanical for you?

It just feels much better to use, also on my old board using it for extended periods led to fatigue in my fingers due to having to press down quite a lot. With the red switches you need much less force for the keystroke to register.

I think for typing it would have been better to opt for mx browns or blues as they are slightly stiffer than the reds and less likely to make typo's.

I've just ordered a Ducky Shine 3 with mx browns thats going to be with me tomorrow, I do a fair amount of typing being a uni student and plenty of reports to write, I am also switching from a membrane keyboard so will let you know my experience when it turns up :)

I too had a period of doubt when I got a mech kb with reds, because I was activating keypresses on the wrong keys all the time! After a week or two I just got better at typing or started to notice when I had pressed an adjacent key too far and it wasn't a problem. I wouldn't got back to membrane either. Drives me mad using one at work as my knuckles get sore and the keys don't always register a press unless it's fully depressed.

Trust me, stick with it and you'll feel the same. It's just a bit less forgiving at first (as above, brown switches are better for typing because you feel the bump where it activates), but they are just so smooth for gaming.

This makes me happy knowing my soon to be purchase of the Ozone Strike Pro would have been worth it!

It is indeed a nice kb, solidly built and doesn't take up a lot of space. My only gripe with it is that the usb cable is a bit short. Thankfully though i had a few extensions to hand.

Well just to give you a bit of feedback. I've just recieved my Ducky Shine 3, and coming over from a membrane keyboard my impressions are I'm very impressed.

I'm using the mx browns and I find them slightly softer to type on compared to the old membrane, there is a bit more noise but that may just be the way I push on the keys. I'm glad I went for the browns as I think the reds would have been too soft for me

Recently went from Membrane to Mechanical for the first time and I couldn't go back!.

Sometime I wish I didn't......because now every membrane keyboard I have to use (like in work) doesn't come close to how nice a mechanical keyboard feels (didn't know any better before lol).

I'm typing away on my trusty and extremely "clacky" QPad MK80 (Cherry MX Blue switches) - I recently tried typing on my sister's computer that uses some old membrane keyboard and the difference was incredible - it felt like it was made of cheese and not a good solid Cheddar, something a lot more spongy and soft, absolutely horrible :D

I'm buying mine for work!
