Moving from Pipex

I want to move ISP because Pipex has become expensive and slow for certain applications

The most traumatic part of moving ISP I find is telling all of your new E-Mail address.

To get round this I wondered if it is possible not to use my new ISp's mail server but set up my own domain and run my own server.

Is this possible, easy?

Any pointers in this direction would be appreciated

The easiest thing to do is to buy your own Domain with someone like Freeparking and just use their redirect faccility. I would advise against setting up your own mail server unless you are very knowledgeable on IT or have someone to hold your hand through the process.
