I have been on Sky for the past couple of years and while the price is very good the service I've been getting hasn't been consistent.

My attenuation is 30 db and I'm about 800M from the exchange but due to constant changes with Sky at the exchange my speed is currently down to 7.5Mb download and 768kbps upload. Bear in mind that for a good period of time I was getting 11Mb download and 1.1 Mbs upload.

I've decided to see if I can find another ISP that primarily does a 2Mb upload for as little money as possible. Can anybody recommend one?

cheers

I dont think you can get 2mb upload unless you go for cable or BT fiber.

your not going to get anything 'cheap' for sure.

Unless you have an LLU provider that does Annex M (IIRC thats BE and maybe A&A and a couple of business providers like plusnet) or you have cable/FTTC in the area your not gonna get over ~1.3MBit (actual more like 1.1). IIRC A&A also do Annex M on BT 21CN/WBC enabled exchanges but most providers only do it where they have LLU presence.

See if you can o2 in your area. You won't get 2mb upload but you should get 1.1 as that's what I got with them.

The current O2 packages are utter drivel with heavy, over bearing traffic management. I am not advising ANYBODY to switch to O2 broadband at this time.

(I am an O2 broadband customer, when my contract rolled over it stayed on one of the old packages without the traffic shaping :) )

Is that true over LLU connections? I'm quite surprised if so. IPStream offerings I'd fully expect to be traffic shaped into oblivion, though...

O2 LLU is indeed traffic managed.
Be* LLU is not, and I'd advise the original poster to see if they can get Be* Pro - it offers an up to 2.5MBit upload.

Many thanks for the pointers people. The thing I really appreciated about Sky was the truly unlimited nature which is why I moved to them from Virgin after they introduced their traffic management for everything but the top broadband package.

But even if I can get back my consistent 10Mb down and 1.1Mb upload then I would probably stay with them but matters are just untenable at the moment. I will look into Be as they are in my exchange.

BT Fibre has good upload. A friend of mine has 40mb down, 7mb up. Not too shabby.
It would have been something to ponder but alas I checked there site and they are not slated to be in my area before March 2012!
