Moving HD from an old MBP to a new MBP - build number issues?

Hi there all,
I have a 2008 aluminium unibody Macbook, running OS 10.6.7 (10J869). I want to buy a new (early 2011) Macbook Pro, and put the HD from the old Macbook straight in and keep working. Is this possible? I know it used to work fine, as I have done it multiple times, but the new MBP has different build numbers for 10.6.7 (due to Sandy Bridge?). Would I just get prompted to upgrade, or will it throw a wobbler?

Please, no comments on "do a fresh install". I don't want to do a fresh install at the moment as I am in the middle of a big project, and have a lot of custom software setups working well.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Will work without a problem , Apple Software updater will update any files that is ness for the MacBook to be upto date.

Youll be fine ; )

MrMoonX - I don't want to use Migration Assistant because I have a number of things it might not transfer (UNIX-ey stuff) and I want to end up with the "old" HD in the "new" MBP.

Lustral - thanks for the vote of confidence, I was hoping things would just get updated as required.
