Hi all,

I have been a long time BE customer but i am now moving home and they have informed me today that i am unable to use there services in the area i am moving :(

I have done a local exchange search and my options for LLU are:

BT
Orange
TalkTalk
or AOL...

What when it comes to ISP's what's my next best option. Needs to supply a good ping for gaming and need about 20 ~ 40GB limit.

I've looked at IDnet they appear to be OK, but its £15 a month.. (twice what I am paying for BE and they have the whole on and off peak restrictions.. which considering I use the internet during the day for work the 4GB monthly limit would disappear instantly) .

Zen are even more expensive.. considering my MAX adsl speed is going to be about 2MB.. i don't really want to fork out extra for the speed.

This is very annoying as the 40GB for £7.50 a month on BE has always been perfect.

Well Talktalk are 40GB usage and very cheap. I know 3 (light users) families using talktalk and they always come to me for help. Over the last 2 years, one problem came up which a new router from talktalk fixed.

However, if BT tie you into a line rental contract when you move, might have to look at BT themselves who give 100GB FUP but at a much higher price.

Go with O2 Broadband, there speeds are always really accurate, even at peak times etc. There is no download limit, unlimited!

Ping is fine for gaming, never had any lag.

and best of all they have genuine UK call centres, so in the unlikely hood you get a problem, no more mr rasheed on the other end asking you to restart your computer 44 times to rack up the premium.

I have a house with talktalk and they are garbage, the speed is pathetic... supposed to get 8MB and only get 5 tops, (used to get 8 with other company)

I have O2 in my apartment, it's like night and day between the two.

Did you even read anything other than thread title?

O2 Access (if you were referring to this instead) from what has been written in this subforum is poor.

O2 are not an option as they don't cover my area! As i have listed the only LLU's in my area! of which o2 isn't one of them.

I was in a similar situation to you last December and I went with TalkTalk. I've had a few niggles early on but they were sorted quickly via the TalkTalk Members forums, it's true their telephone support is rubbish but the forum support is actually rather good. They let you request line profile changes so you can get the best speed from your line.

You can also get a bandwidth upgrade to 80GB p/m for £4 extra or sign up for the Pro package which is truly unlimited (and no bandwidth shaping during peak hours, although I've never noticed any bandwidth shaping and I'm on the Essentials pack)
