Moving house, so much to do and i can't remember how to move broadband over without any down time...

Current line rental is with BT and as there could be a BT line rental contract on the property im just going to stick with BT to save the hassle of switching that to BE.

Basically in what order do I do everything? There are 15 days until i move in, BE state 14 days advance on notification for minimal down time. How do people normally do it, as I've no idea what the current land line number is for the house yet they ask for it prior to you moving in, how am I meant to know it?

Do I ring BT first, say im moving and that I'd like to take my current number then just ring BE after saying that the number will be the same? or is there more to it? I don't really care if the land line number changes, I'm purely after the process which means minimal down time. Also the property is currently empty if that means i can get things moving quicker.

Socket in the new property live?

If so see if you can get someone either yourself/estate agent to ring their mobile to obtain the number.

Job done.. if there's no live socket - g'luck ;)

I've just moved house and taken my bb with me.

Steps I followed.

1. Find out the previous number at the new house if there was one.

2. Contact BT and order the move - they might give you a new number or keep the old one or you take your current number with you, within 24hrs they should give you an estimated live date for your new address.

3. Contact your ISP giving them the phone number and the BT date for the line going live.

If all goes to plan you should be net enabled in 5 days or so from moving in, if the new house is in a 21CN area then you most likely will get a date a week after you move in from your ISP - but your internet will prob go live within 48hrs, which is what happened to me - I had 5 days of free internet with no download limits, as most ISP's won't start billing you etc until the live date on their system.
