Hi, I have counter strike 1.6 and source on my hard drive WinXP, but I've bought a new hard drive which I want to install vista on, to see whether I like it or not, in the case that I do, how could I bring the CS installs over to the my new hard drive? I can take all of the program files, but I can't get all those reg keys, so it won't work, will it? With my other games, I can just install off the disks, then copy the saves over, but with CS, I paid through Steam to download it, so I don't have disks..

i think you can just move your steam folder and it sorts it out by itself.

Don't know about going from XP to vista though.

Actually, in steam you can right click a game and backup the game files - you might be safer to do that then move that across - not sure how to import it though - I always just move the whole of steam.

you can create backups in steam

(or just manually copy the steamapps folder from old install to new one search for it on your pc)

or you could just download it again, you get unlimited downloads with steam

lol, course not

what if your pc died, they can't expect you to pay again

you just need your login information for steam and you can download the games unlimited number of times
