Hi all... I'm moving into my flat this Wednesday and want to make sure I haven't missed off any essentials!

I think I've got most of the obvious ones (pots/cutlery/plates/corkscrew etc.) but I don't want to miss anything vital and end up being extremely bored.

Anything that I'm likely to have forgotten that'll make life uncomfortable or lead me to starve/freeze to death?

Cheers!

Bedding, extra lighting. Can't actually think of anything really. I'm moving in to a new house tomorrow so I'll be keep a keen eye on this thread.

Is the flat furnished?

Yup it's pretty much fully furnished - I might need to buy a few things like coffee machine etc. but otherwise it's got all white goods and sofas/beds etc.

Essentials is what I really want, but things to prevent boredom are also good as my room mate isn't able to get down this week so I could see it being a very boring few days!

I will of course be buying a few beers and celebratory bottle of single malt.

Good calls so far on door mat, oven glove, tea towels and bath mat. Keep them coming.

Torch ... for finding the fuse box when a bulb blows and it trips the circuit rcd.
Selection of takeaway menus and a mobile, in case of kitchen facility related issues. :)

When we moved into our first unfirnished flat, we had all the 'essentials'.

However we had no bed, sofa, furniture etc. Took a trip to the shops and bought a blow up bed and blow up sofa to tide us over until the stuff we'd ordered got delivered.

Chances are you've got all this already but here goes:

How about getting some more friends?

Har har. Uni doesn't start for three more weeks and none of my other uni mates have moved up. All my mates in Nottingham have dissertations to finish so aren't exactly free to faff about in my flat atm.

Great suggestions guys, I like the toilet seat one lol.

Toliet Paper - Removed due to it being disgusting.

Edit: Oh come on its from bevis and butt head
