On October 5th I'll be moving into a flat, although initally only for a 6 month period to see how it goes.

I'll be wanting to get up and running with a phone and broadband connection asap.

The property has previously had a BT line, so I beleive I should qualify for a free reconnection even though I've never had an account myself before.

However, on the BT website it states a minimum contract term of 12 months :( Is there anything I can do about this, or am I just going to have to sign up for 12 months and forfeit 6 months line rental if I move out (although I'd most likely mbe moving somewhere else so could I just take the contract with me? in which case committing to 12 months would be fine).

I'll phone them tomorrow to ask.

The main think I wanted to ask, is whats the quickest way of getting up and running? Is there any way I can have it so both phone and broadband will be ready on the day I move in?

I don't know what the old phone number on the line was, but have all the address details, it's presently unoccupied and I have a signed tennancy agreement so can I start the ball rolling?

I don't want to use BT as my ISP which I guess might make it more tricky? I also have to use BT as my phone provider as this is stipulated in my tennancy agreement.

Ideally I'd like to start the phone reconnection and broadband provisioning at the same time, but I guess I need to have the line reconnected and be in posession of a phone number before I can even contact an ISP?

I'll want an ISP with a 1 month contract term for the same reason as above. Any recommendations? Currently with Eclipse at my parents house and they've gone downhilll loads, so would rather go with someone different.

Will be looking for an 8Mb/Max service with 50Gigs or "unlimited" useage for no more than £30 per month if possible.

Is it possible to contact the ISP first, and explain there is an old BT line there that needs reconnecting, and get them to pass the connection request onto BT at the same time as the request to enable ADSL on the line?
