As default iTunes has setup in C/Music I want to move this folder to my F drive. Can I just select the change location in iTunes, and everything will stay the same?

Reason is I want to change the location of my pictures(which ive done) and music both to F pictures or music. So I can just select music/pictures folder and it will take me to F.

Saying that when I re-install vista would I need to setup all my iTunes again?

Ive not really used iTunes, so ive got a lack of knowledge using it, ive not got my whole library in there just 8GB or so which is then on my iPhone.

I think you have to change the location and move the files yourself. iTunes has a habit of losing all your album art when you do this, if that matters to you. I'm no expert but I have my iTunes music on my D:\ drive.

You can export all the music (File/Library/Export Library) on to DVD or CD media and then re-import it on the new install, but if any of your music is non iTunes sourced, again you will have issues with Album art.

You can put all your music in the iTunes library and select only the files you want to synchronise with your iPhone. I have a Classic so space isn't an issue, but Apple made this possible since some of the Nano's have small capacities.

Thanks well ive got over 70GB of music and my iPhone is only 16GB so I cant put my entire collection into the iTunes library.

Iam not to bothered about album art as I can change that myself in iTunes.

Could someone else confirm about moving iTunes please?

Just for some fun I tried that...created new Music folder..copied all the folders and files in my current iTunes location...put the new location in iTunes preferences...and nothing. ITunes opens up OK but is empty...

Actually what appears to have happened is that iTunes created another iTunes folder in the original location and despite the preferences being redirected it appears to still look at the the old, recreated, empty, folder..if that makes sense

EDIT: This is in the iTunes Help...for once helpful. Don't move the folder...just the files. It works but is typically Apple stupidity as you need to leave the original folder in place....or import every track to the new location which then creates the "new" library information files in the new location. Or if you're barking mad reload every CD you've got...all over again. I suspect its because its just Apple and dragging and dropping a folder under Windows changes ALL the file location information in the folders and files...but Apple obviously feel they want to do things things differently.....

"To move already-imported files to a new location (for example, a different folder on your hard disk, or a different computer), follow the instructions above and then quit iTunes. Select everything in the iTunes Music folder and drag the files to the new location (don't drag the entire iTunes Music folder, only its contents). For information about finding out where individual audio files are stored, search help for "finding files."

Its to do with the default location for ITunes being fixed in iTunes Library.itl despite what you change in Preferences.

Essentially copy your music to a safe place first then change preferences to the new location...this changes the other file iTunes Library.XML which iTunes uses as its backup.

Open the iTunes Library.itl file with Wordpad and delete all the wierd characters...everything...in there and save it.

This forces iTunes on restart to use the .xml file as its new file...which, of course, contains the new folder location. ItUnes then reimports all your library settings and playlist settings to the new location...it takes a while as its like a ne wimport of every thing. My 3500 songs took only 6 minutes.

Then bobs your uncle everything already saved is "MOVED" to the new location and all new downloads etc will go there as well.

Iam now dual booting with win7, and want to setup iTunes with win7. All my podcasts are on C and win7 is on D drive, just installed iTunes on D can I import my podcasts from the C drive some how?
