moved to windows after using macs for years, but I need to move a 40 odd gig file over to the new windows 7 pc, I cannot read NTFS on the mac, so thats out, and FAT32 file limit stops me aswell.

Any idea how I can get this over other than over the network.

Get an ntfs driver for the mac, or software is available for windows that can read mac drives, or do it over a network, a 1 gigabit should transfer around 60mb/s , so it won't take long, 40gb isn't that much.

my mac seems to transfer bloody slow over the network to my server, about 8-10mbps. going the other way is speedy tho.

seems like it'll be your best bet though, unless you cba to find an ntfs driver for mac

Another option is to burn Ubuntu or LinuxMint to a CDR, boot from that on the Mac and copy the file to an NTFS hard drive.

Personally, I'd just do it the network way.

USB2 maxes out at around 30MB/s, Gigabit network is around 120MB/s (you'd expect a minimum of 50MB/s), 100Mbit network is around 12.5MB/s
