Moving Mouse = Static? Huh?!

Hey guys,

I know this has been posted a few times before but there hasn't really been any resolution on the problem.

Just installed a new DVD drive and a new screen, and did a new windows install. Now I'm getting static constantly which gets worse when I move/use the mouse. Its really really annoying and never goes away.

If I mute every channel its still there - the only way to "get rid of it" is to turn my speakers/head phones down but turn main volume up in Volume Control.

Anyone had a similar problem?

i had it on my old computer but only really happened when it was at high volume which i didnt really use much..maybe its got something to do with the wire being too close to the headphone wire? its an optical ps2 mouse but cant really say much more..
