Hi guys,

i've got 2 domains, a .co.uk and a .com with 123-reg and I need to move them to TSOhost.

however I've got no idea how to do this and can't find much help online. There are lots of options, changing IPS tag, nameservers, DNS etc... but not sure which one I need...

I know there's a lot of webdevs here who probably do this all the time, do any of them fancy giving me a hand?

Cheers
Hamish

For a .uk domain you would need to change the IPS tag in the 123-reg control panel to the one provided by your new host when you place your order. This is all that is required.

For the .com you will need to unlock the domain for transfer and ensure the admin contact is set to your e-mail address (again both within the 123-reg panel). The transfer is then initiated by the new hosting provider when you place your order. Once the transfer has been initiated you will receive a confirmation e-mail to the admin contact on the domain which contains a link - click it to continue the process. You will be asked to enter an EPP key which again you can get from the 123-reg panel.

Hope that helps :).

thats really useful. Cheers :)

just so you know, that's the guy who owns tsohost :)

Alonside other shareholders, yes. I though I'd keep that under my hat and just give some unbiased, nonpartisan advice (the transfer procedure is the same for whoever you choose to host with).

You should also remember that you do not need to transfer your domain to whoever you are going to use for hosting.
Simply keep the domains where they are and change the nameservers to reflect your new hosts.

123-reg look after all of my domains - however I have absolutely no hosting with them at all.
All of my various sites are hosted between 2 or 3 companies.

Well I've only been with TSOHost a few days after reading OCHostReview and so far I can't fault them. I even sent them a support query at 12:30am and got a nice reply 10 mins later with the fix!

I made the mistake of going with Fasthosts to host a website for a friend and fasthosts service has been poor from the start not to mention the extra costs for a mysql database and folder password protection. Anyhow, the hosting is up for renewal from today which I forgot about and I am just waiting for fasthosts to take money out of my visa card without asking, for another years renewal which I don't want.

Just wondering what you guys would suggest as the easiest method in transfering the existing website (mysql database etc) to another hosting company such as TSOhost & Vidahost without too much hassle? The mysql database is important and I'm not sure how to take this over to the new hosting.

Cheers.

Gutted :(

I got the website transfered to the other hosting company which I am delighted with. I was getting the phone number for fasthosts and in comes an email containing an invoice and to say they have charged me £85+ for the renewal. I rang fasthosts to cancel the hosting and to refund the payment they just took and they have refused stating it is their policy that they don't give refunds. All they could do was send the email to me for cancellation and they return it. They also mentioned that an additional feature is on the package and is to be renewed in the morning so if they don't process my cancellation by then, I will be charged the renewal fee for that feature.

Not a good day for me at all. I wish they could have sent me a reminder of the date for renewal but they don't as its not their policy.

Stick their policy.
