So I'm moving my PC to my new place soon by car, and I was just wondering if anyone has encountered any problems doing so that I should be aware of?

Besides the obvious of disconnecting everything and turning it all off, is there anything I should take out the tower, or anything I should pay particular attention to to avoid damage?

Thanks

I have moved my pc from my parents to my flat and back again without any problem, placed in the boot.

might want to put it on a blanket or something just to absorb a bit of impact if you go over any big bumps, other than that there's not much that will hurt it in your car, unless you're going to go for a bit of an off-road rally with it!
If you have the Tuniq box you might want to put it into that too to stop the case getting scratched or chipped.
I meant The box that your case came in by 'Tuniq box'

OK thanks for the quick replies, was just wondering in case there were any loose parts particularly vulnerable to shaking etc.

The tuniq tower is a big one I believe. I'd remove it, otherwise that's a lot of weight swinging around stuck onto your motherboard

Yeah particularly large heat sinks aren't the best during transport and over bumps will try to pull themselves off the motherboard.

Apart from that though you should be good. I've moved my PC in the car countless times to and from uni and never had a single issue.

I was thinking of removing the tower but I'd have to take the mobo and GPU out the case as well to do so, so if no one else has had problems I think I'll just lay it on its side and leave it all together. Cheers

If you leave it in place, try to secure it using cable ties. If its tied to three sides of the case it'll vibrate but it wont break off the motherboard and crash into the graphics cards.

Given the value of your computer I really would spend the 20 minutes needed to take the massive block of metal off before driving anywhere with it

I have the Tuniq Tower, providing you stuck the backing plate on the back of the mainboard all you should need to do is unscrew the four screws. This will enable you to remove the heatsink without taking the mainboard out.

or make sure u lay u`re tower down flat in the boot , so the heatsink is pointing up .. moved loads of pc`s in cars never had a problem , just make sure its well padded thats all ;) an no ski jumping over speed bumps :)

moved my pc many many many times. Never done anything, other than lying the computer on the side so the tower cooler points upwards.
