Hell, in the States Corvettes have dominated Autocross and Gymkhana events since the Seventies.
Regarding the build quality, certainly not as good as some of its similarly-performing rivals - but then those rivals usually cost tens of thousands more, hence the higher quality materials and finish. The Corvette has money spent where it was needed to get the performance and reliability. I've always found them very comfortable though and, barring the seats and some minor trim (although it does vary), very durable inside.
Obviously a lot of it is subjective but I've been in much more expensive cars with worse interiors, or interiors that aren't as comfortable or as refined
