Ok basically I want to put a little motherboard with onboard VGA into a SNES case as a little emulator/file server, and it would be nice to do it without having to cut a hole where the VGA port is. The only way I can see to do this is to de-solder the port itself from the board and then use thin wires to connect it back to the holes it was in before, or to attach the wires to the points on the underside of the board and put a new port on the end of them. The problem is that Ive tried the second method and Im not getting any signal going to the monitor. I dont know if thats because theres too much signal loss along the wires, or if my soldering wasnt good enough to carry the signal or what. Can anyone see a way of getting this done nicely? Or should I admit defeat and cut a hole in the casing?

Hehe its far from inside warranty, I bought it cheap cos it was from a write off at work. Unfortunately theres not even room for an extension or any plug to go on the onboard port as its pressed right up against the side already. I did ask one of the camcorder engineers at work today whose been tinkering with electronics since I was an itch in mah daddies pants and he thinks that attaching the wires to the underside of the board should work fine. So Im going to check the soldering Ive done already and see if Ive made a mistake anywhere like shorting 2 wires or getting the order wrong. Ill post back with results anyway just for interests sake. :)
