I'm currently 21, at Uni and still living at home. Sad I know.

I've been looking at moving out and I can get a pretty decent 5 bed student place for £55 - £65pw. I already know 4 other people who are wanting to move out (4 girls :D )

My questions to you guys are,

1) If one or more of us are not students, what extra can we expect to pay? council tax etc?

2) Will I get more student loan by moving out? (gonna ring up on monday anyway)

3) Water, Gas, Electric, TV Licence, Council tax (I'm not sure students pay this?), Broadband. Are there any bill's I've forgotten?

4) How does the TV Licence work? Is it one per room or per houshold?

5) How do explain movin in with 4 girls (2 of which Ihave a 'history' with) to the missus? (I could probably do w whole thread on just this one

6) Any other general advice or info I should know?

Cheers Guys

Whoever is not a student will have to pay council tax between them for the property.

2) Will I get more student loan by moving out?

Don't think so.

Contents insurance and phone and yes, you'll have to pay them all.

4) How does the TV Licence work?

Per household.

5) How do explain movin in with 4 girls (2 of which Ihave a 'history' with) to the missus? (I could probably do w whole thread on just this one

Now this is just stupid! :p For the sake of both you and your lass - just don't bother!

6) Any other general advice or info I should know?

Location, location, location. Make sure you're near transport links etc :)

Those that aren't full time students have to pay council tax, but I believe it is discounted somewhat if they are living with students.

You should get a little more, though not very much. I got an extra ~£600 from what I got when I lived at home.

Depending on the house and letting agency/landlord, those are the main bills, as well as food. Sometimes good to have a package with gas/electric included, paying a set rate, so then you don't really have to worry about overusing your gas heating in the winter.

It will depend on what your contract is, from what I remember, if you've all got separate contracts, then I believe you all officially have to have a licence, else if it's all your names on one contract, then it's just one TV licence, but somebody can correct me on that.

Dunno, but explain it to her simply, and if you know you're not going to be stupid and do anything with any of them, and she trusts you, then you'll be okay I guess, but it'll depend upon your girlfriend entirely for that one.

It's cheaper to cook together, so try doing that if you can get a time of the week where most of you are going to be in, and it's always nice to eat together.

With the TV license, I was told that if you lock your rooms, you need a License for each room

(I didnt listen to that thought :p )
