Moving plug sockets up from skirting

Hi folks,

Quick question for any sparks or folks with a bit more experience. We've moved house in the last few months, looks like the old owner has (kinda bodge) retrofitted 2 double sockets in the back room... He's sunk them a few inches into the skirting board and right against some pipe boxing.

I can see why it's because he's been a lazy git as it's an external brick wall, he's dropped the 2.5 twin down the pipe boxing - then come out the side of it and immediately chucked the back boxes in. Just wish he went a few inches out and higher so they were at the correct height as it makes certain plugs difficult to get in. We're decorating atm and having new flooring and skirting in, so I don't want to have to cut into our new skirting hence the question now :D

I'd be happy with just 1 double socket here, so I'm thinking to raise the socket I can chisel/hammer out just above the centre of these 2 sockets and across a few inches, then using either a Wago connector or Debox in-line junction box to connect the twin & earth. I'll likely need less than 30cm of 2.5mm twin (and some earth sleeving) to move it up, fit a new metal back box above - then maybe chuck some conduit over the junction box to protect it, then plaster over it?

Does this sound sensible or is there a better way? ;)

Cheers

(pics are at an awkward angle as this was last night before we ripped the skirting off today, and part of skirts were blocking the full removal of said sockets....)

If you're going to bury the junction box then go with Wago connectors. Any screw terminal needs to be accessible, so can't be buried in the wall, whereas Wago connectors are classed as maintenance free

How much flex have you got on that cable. Looks to be slack to the left of the socket. Would be handy if there was enough that you didn't have to add a connector at all.
