Moving Raid drives to another machine?

Hi Guys,

I have a HP microserver that has gone pop, and inside it i have 2 raid 1 drives, instead of buying another HP N54L im thinking of building a MiniITX machine to act as my server.

Just wondering, assuming the new motherboard I buy has Raid, can i just plug my drives into that and they will be seen ok?

I do have a backup but its around 2 months old

if the going to the same raid controller it will be fine, i have done this with nvidia raid controllers and hp and dell so aslong as its not going from a dell raid to a hp raid controller you wil be fine. common sense says do a backup any way.

Looks like the N54L uses a AMD SB700 so if were to move to a SB710 that would be ok?

you might well get away with that.

in any case the new controller wont make any changes to the drives without your permission so give it a go.
