Moving to austria

Well Im going to be going to Austria (Vienna in particular) on a placement year working for Siemens, the problem being I havent the feintest idea of what to expect, has anyone else got any advice about what I should expect and what to get sorted out before I go?

Im thinking anything from taxes to health cover (im assuming a EHIC card will be needed until I can get something sorted out). Any help would be greatly appreciated, pointers would be good to, I know I could just google but im just posting this to see if anyone has any practical advice.

Not particularly well, Im sort of relying on 5 year old GCSE german, though I have been told that I wont need it while working which I suppose is a plus, but it would be a good idea to start learning again really.
