My exchange is shortly going to be enabled for Be and I'm curious to find out what sort of speed I could expect?

I'm currently with freedom2surf on there ADSL Max service.

Here are my line stats:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6656 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 32 db 9 db
Noise Margin 6 db 24 db

i am not too far from my exchange and i get about 20mb/s it all depends on the distance from the exchange. if you are close expect 20+ if you are further then anything over 15 i guess

Im 2km from exchange and on Nildram I could expect 6meg I think 'Be' customer services said I could expect 11meg?

your stats is nearly same as mine

i got activated with BE on 2nd Jan

Uptime: 0 days, 6:51:20
Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,330 / 15,465
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 11.18 / 103.64
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 17.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 15.0 / 32.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.5 / 4.0

so you should get between 14mb to 16mb :)

How far from the exchange are you wesley?

This site here says I'm 1.33 as the crow flys!!

Be interested in knowing as I may go to 'Be' as my exchange went live last month! :D

Cheers

Straight line distance can be deceiving, it's best to post your attenuation; it's a better indication.

i'm 1.6KM away from my local exchange, (straight line) but the actual length of phone line is just over 1.9KM. i know a mate who is 2KM away from his local exchange but his actual length of phone line is over 4KM

I see, is there any way of finding out actual line length?

Or can I only know that once I have 'Be' or ADSL installed?

Ah I see, took Linksys router out to do some cabling the other week, I'll pop it back in this week and post info ;)

Thanks mate

The DMT tool works with the Linksys WAG54GS just for your info.

What do my stats tell you guys?

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 18.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31.5 / 51.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 22.0 / 9.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB /
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

you got line attenuation of 51 and sync'd at 4.6mb. i doubt you'll get better speed with ADSL2+, maybe 1meg increase but you should be able to get full 1.3mb upload speed if u move to BE
