Er as thread title implies I'm moving to BeThere after finally getting a MAC from Nildram after 9 fluffing days of waiting!

Just looking at the order page, what would be the best choice for me regarding IP addresses? Just want/need one so one dynamic or one static? :)

Edit: Just found https://www.bethere.co.uk/technicalFAQ.do#faq11 on the Be site FAQs. Might be interested in FTP stuff so I might ask for a static IP. :) That and I can be geeky by remembering my IP address. :D

Have you thought about going to O2? Can get their 20mb for £7.50 through a forum member. Check out the O2 thread.

Id go for static, its useful if you want to remote into your network without having to worry about remembering the IP everytime it changes because of a router re-boot.

Just to note, we've been with sky for 12 months, at my none university residence, and i've yet to see our 'dynamic ip' change.

Hmm could do I suppose. Was hoping for the Fastpath but perhaps I don't really need it as I don't game online.

Yeah I'm rapidly coming up with good reasons to have a static IP. :)

Have you had to turn your router off and on again? Or reset it? The dynamic IP should only change when you reconnect to the service and even then it might not depending on how long you've had that IP?

A couple of times in recent weeks, but as far as I am aware not for months before that.

You can get get 20mb, with a static ip, for £12.50 (What i have in my student house). They'll also do fast path for you, from what I have read.

I've been with Be* for a few years now, the modem/router crashes often (POS BeBox thing) and I'm yet to see a change in IP address, and I don't pay any extra for a static IP address.

On Be Pro I won't either. :) It is one static or dynamic IP for no extra charge. :)
