Will be moving over to Conroe about Sept/Oct and looking for a bit of info.

Want to get the 6600 and 2GB GSkill HZ.whats the best Mobo for these? Also for now i want to keep my 7800GT.I mainly play BF2 and CSS and neither of these really stress my 7800.

How much of a bottleneck in the new system would a 7800GT be?

There are only two mobo's worth getting at the moment but in a few weeks there will be more and better overclocking ones out.

The videocard will be fine as it is fast enough for the games you mention, maybe later you can upgrade it to a faster one but IMO it's not worth getting a new one now as the difference will be too small in most games.

Maybe come up with a reason not to go Conroe

Dude, let them! It just means there'll be loads of cheap AMD boards and Optys on Members Market for people like me to snap up! :p

LOL will still have the AMD rig apart from the 7800GT.Will be sourcing a 7600GT for the AMD Rig and that will go to my daughter. My boy already has a Opty146 system.

Not a fanboy by any means but have bought AMD for the last few years due to bang for buck. This is the reason im going Conroe and no other.Pound for Pound it is a better option than anything AMD currently have to offer.

Probably the Gigabyte DS3, it has the newer bios revisions and out of the box compatability for Conroe.... However there will be more boards released over the next month or so and nForce5 should also arrive soon. So in the words of Captain Jack Sparrow: "keep a sharp eye!"

a lot, try and sell it on and get hold of a x1900xt maybe, or just wait a bit for the new range of cards to be released and then upgrade.

Thanks for that,
Just been reading on XS about a new Abit due for release. The reviewer was quite impressed.

Hmmm, have been reading that ABit were planning a comeback, they've been quiet for ages. Personally I think probably the most eagerly awaited board will be the DFI nF5 board, or the Asus 965 version.....

Apparently it will be a few months before ATI get their act together with their new chipset

Back onto the RD600 Conroe chipset, DFI engineers are having much success overclocking the RD600 chipset (on a reference board) to around 430 – 450MHz FSB. Although on the other hand, nVidia’s nForce 590 SLI chipset is only reaching around 350MHz on the reference motherboard. We’ll have more for you on this later in the week in a very exclusive article from Taiwan.
350Mhz is nowhere near high enough, with a E6300 you need 500Mhz FSB for 3.5Ghz :(
