Moving to countryside with max 1Mb, ISP reccomendations

BT Recorded Line Length to Exchange (m): 4265

Well, much longer than I thought it was, but mine had a good stable 5mb ADSL connection.

Sor surely you should be able to squeeze a lot more speed at that distance...

Thanks, says:

BT Recorded Line Length to Exchange (m): 3720

Could be worse right?

Mine is 3530 and I get a 4.7Mb sync on ADSL2+ with Sky's LLU package. Previously on ADSL I got circa 2-3Mb.

When you move in look at removing the ring wire from all of the BT sockets in the house. Also be extra nice to the BT engineer when he attends, he may sort you out a good line at the cab/exchange! :D

Assuming no major quality issues on the line, that the exchange equipment is reasonable kit rather than something they've dumped out in the sticks to die, etc. you should get around 5Mbit on that with a good router like the Netgear DG834GT (may need a little tweaking on the SNR margin target).

Not on ADSL he won't.. :p
