right is there anyway i can move vista from my 180gb hd to my 250gb hd and since am gettin rid of my xp install as everything works with vista now???

There shouldn't be as you are keeping it on the same computer, you are just creating an 'image' of the hard drive, and moving it onto a different hard drive inside the computer.

Just remove Vista from the old drive when finished otherwise you have to copies.

Cloning the hard drive saves re-installing Vista and having to re-activate.

There are a few free programs as well, but I believe Acronis has a trial period.

cool tryin get get xp off the hd am wantin to put vista onto and grr its being a pain in the ass i cant format the drive any1 got any ideas

Make the current vista drive active. You might have to repair the boot menu off the dvd when you reboot.

A BootDisk isn't your Vista DVD.

I really don't know how to explain this but I will give it a go.

Load up My Computer in Vista, make sure you know the drive letter of the drive you want to format.

Load up Command Prompt and format through there.

Not going to be the best idea trying to move your os without the dvd, chances are you'll need to repair the boot.

yeah i know what a bootdisk is lol shame the drive don't work lol and i'll give the dos format a try

ok just tryed that and it said system partion is not allowed to be formated

I am not sure what to do next.

I would try a Floppy Boot Disk but that does all depend on the pc having a floppy drive!

I am not sure if BartPE has DOS Built in.

Out of ideas now. Sorry!

cheers for the help guys my system don't have a floppy drive so i'll wait till i find my vista dvd and try formattin it via that way or get some sorta disk ulitly for it
