Moving Win10 to new computer

My laptop recently died. It had been upgraded to Win10 from a full retail disk version of Win7. I still have the Win7 code and disk. Can I run my win10 installation, that I have on a usb stock, and use the Win7 code to set up Win10 on a new machine? The laptop is no longer usable so I cant access it at all.

Since it's a retail code and not an OEM code (although the locked to the motherboard wasn't really adhered to back up to windows 7) you should be able to just install the corresponding version of windows 10 and use the windows 7 code to activate it (if it doesn't work, then a call to microsoft should fix it but I doubt that it will be needed).

It'll work fine. My 7 code was retail as well, and it activated 10 on my new build just fine with no issues.

Worked fine. Got new computer put new HDD in and used my USB with Win10 to install. When asked for the code during installation I put in my key that came with my retail Win7. Jobs a goodin'.
