Hey guy, i have windows 7 ultimate on a 40gb hard drive at the moment and im looking to move it to a larger one, i have a hard drive set up to move it to, but i do not know how to migrate it could i just do another clean install of windows onto that hard drive and take out the other? and will that format all my hard drives? Whats the best option?

if you have any suggestions please say.

thanks.

You can remove the old drive and just do a clean install on to the new drive.

Another option is clone the old drive over to the new one. I use acronis trueimage for this. I think there might be a 30 day trial version that will let you do it.

The advantage of this is you will not need to reinstall your programs and set the pc up again. It will be the exact same way it is just now.

Most cloning software handle the drive settings to allow it to reboot as the main drive, just attach the new drive, clone the old drive, then replace the old drive with the new. I've done this several times using either Norton Ghost or Paragon Drive Copy.
