Hi, basically I have my main hard drive and a 250gb SSD, I hear Windows runs so much faster on an SSD so my question is:

Is there anyway I can move my OS from my hard drive to my SSD without moving all the files etc (Programs, photos, videos, games)? I just want to move the OS to the SSD and keep everything else on my main hard drive.

Thanks.

The only best is way to re-install Windows on the SSD and then place all common used programs on and then do as you mention on the mechanical drive.

Best and most practical way is to reinstall from scratch onto the SSD, then if possible, move all your data off the HDD, reformat and move only the DATA back on, not all the windows detritus. Having said that, it's a waste of a 256GB SSD to only have windows on it. You could likely fit all of your software and several games on there too.

And make sure to install Windows with only the SSD plugged in (not the HDD, you can add it once you're done installing and updating Windows).

If your current data/os will fit onto the 250gb ssd then the easiest way is to clone the data across to your new ssd using samsungs own data migration tool
