Hi there,

In my current system I had a solid state drive, and a regular mechanical drive. I've set it so that my documents/pictures/music/videos folder locations are on the mechanical drive, and my question is as follows:

If I were to get a new SSD for my boot drive, with a fresh install of Windows, would all of my files be deleted from the mechanical, or unnaccessible in some way?

Really, I just want to know if when I disconnect both drives, install the new SSD, install windows and then only reconnect the mechanical drive, will everything work as normal? I've got it all backed up anyway, but I'd rather not faff about that way.

Cheers!

all the documents etc should be fine, I had a SSD with stuff pointing to a 500GB HDD like windows temp files, page file etc to save on space and also had my steam library on for games

when you get the new SSD disconnect all the drives but the one you want the os on and then install windows, once installed and everything done connect up the HDD and you should be fine
