Moving windows to another machine

Hi all,

I have a desktop with Windows 8.1 (upgraded to 10) on it. I am in the process of selling my PC and moving to a MacBook Air due to travelling a lot with work.
I want to dual book the MacBook so can I install the copy of windows I have on it after uninstalling from my PC when I sell and then install on the MacBook?

If it was a retail version of Windows 10 you'll be fine, Windows 7 & 8 retail upgrades to 10 retail.

It's OEM 8.1

OEM is tied to the hardware (motherboard) so you can't do what you want legally.

You may as well sell it with the motherboard.
