Moving windows to new hdd, help please.

I want to move my windows install from one hdd to another, including all the registry entries so I don't have to reinstall anything. Hdd it is on is old and noisy so I want to get rid of it, but don't really want to have to do a fresh install.

Best way to do it? Preferably with free software.

This is what I use. Just image the old drive onto the new one.

Finally got around to trying this and ran into a problem.

Windows cloned from the old hdd to the new one, no problem

, but it refuses to boot

. Windows doesn't even make an attempt to boot from it. Ignores the hdd, tries the cd/dvd (2nd boot device), then gives the error about no boot device found, insert bootable media.

Drive cloned fine, all files are there, just won't boot

Does the new drive have a bootsector set up on it?
