moving WOW from 1 PC to another

Just a quick question if I download the client again from WOW can I just login using my old login/password. Or will the client ask me for a registration key before continuing?

I currently play it on the desktop and want to play it now on my laptop.

You can even copy/paste the full WoW folder from one pc to another and use your log in details. It wont ask you for your registration details.

If you copy your whole wow folder across to the laptop prior to installing it will save lots of time installing the expansion and a few extra patches. You can install it anywhere you want, the cd key is tied to your account not the cd's.

Will also mean you don't have to redo all your mods.

Pah it wasn't that easy I planned to do it over wireless network but it would take 6+ hours to do so I did 3 chunks of 4 gig on a USB key. Still took over 1 hour to load and unload all the stuff. Still quicker than buying a new copy though

If you got a dvd writer just burn it all to one dvd that should save you loads of time. Also you have a nice backup of your game with all the addons installed.

the wow folder game + expansion was 12 gig :eek:

I should have burned 3 disks but it was quicker to be honest just to transport them onto the USB key in 3 goes.

get yourself a cross over cable for future

know you already done it but do think dvds would be quicker since you can burn the next one while you coping from 1st or 2nd respectively

You wouldn't need to buy a new copy of the game unless you've lost your installer discs. A WoW cd key is for an account, not the install.
