Mowing the lawn

My poor lawn has been overtaken by broad leaf weeds. Never bothered before but this year i bought a big box of westland feed and weed and a spreader. I set the spreader too high and ran out of feed halfway across the lawn. It killed the weeds but also scorched the grass. The lawn now looks atrocious. I pulled up the remaining weeds yesterday and poured my weed mix in the holes to hopefully kill the remaining roots. My weed mix is white vinegar, washing up liquid and salt water. I'll overseed the whole lawn today. See how it goes.

I was going to quickly give the lawn a cut before the thunderstorm we're due tomorrow.. I fed the fish and the sky opened up before I got the mower out. Ah well..

I've not done any major lawn maintenance this year. Usually I would have aerated and scarified, but since we got a dog last year and the slight damage she's done with her weeing on the grass (we water the patch where she's wee'd directly after) I've not bothered and tbh it doesn't look that bad. Might have to do it next year though but we'll see and I'm just regularly cutting now with all the sunshine and showers of late.

Starting to see large clumps of what I'm assuming is some sort of rogue grass coming through in my back lawn (the purpley course shoots). I'm assuming this'll be a pain in the arse to get rid of?

Not sure what it is, but looks grassy so not hopeful of removing it easy. I've already got clumps of some of other rogue grass that I'm just nuking and reseeding with lawn grass which has worked a treat, but this stuff looks a lot more diffuse through the lawn.
Think this one is for @Richie ! :o

Not 100% sure on what type of grass it is TBH but, the only way to get rid of it is to kill off the entire lawn as there is no selective weedkiller that wont harm other narrow-leaf plants (grass).

Of course, its been left to grow way too long and has went to seed which will just make it worse as the seed heads fall into the soil and germinate.

When was the last time it was cut? Maybe its a scale thing but from that picture its full of dead thatch and the finer grasses are getting swamped. Regular cut favours the finer grasses as it literally mows down the opposition if its let go of then coarse grasses and weeds will simply take over.

It has been a couple of weeks and would have done it at the weekend if the weather was decent.

Yeah, I think that's the issue, but never seen this stuff put seed heads out (I think this purple stuff is the start of them so I'll remove them before they escalate even further).

Edit: It's defiitely seed heads, so I'll get it mowed tonight.
