Just started using this , is all graet apart from the fact when you open a link in an email it automatically open it in mozilla , while i'm using firefox (which is default).

I can't seem to find a setting so it uses the default browser I.e firefox.

Anyone got any ideas

I think it will use whatever browser you've set as default. So if Firefox is the default browser it will use that and you can't change it easily.

You sure Firefox is default? Is this Mozilla mail and not Thunderbird? Mozilla mail might be set to use Mozilla as part of a suite.

Firefox is defin default browser. not to worry now, I've realised there is actually a standalone mozilla mail client. Which IMO is far better then outlook etc

Got the foxy tunes one for fire fox ;)

Just ploughing through all of those add ons and not knowing what are good etc. Just thought if anyone has any specific ones which are stand out I could have a play with them. Either way well impressed with this bit of software far better then outlook express :D

Sometimes Thunderbird will open a new copy of itself when you double click on a folder in the folder pane.

In 2.0? Never seen it here.

In addition to the usual ones (NTT, Talkback), I've got MinimizeToTray, Folderpane Tools and Correct Identity.

Ah looks like they have patched TB 2.0 with it. Excellent news that.:)

Just installed Folderpane Tools and Correct Identity and I likes.

What is NTT though? Nightly Tester Tools?

And has anyone got an updated Update Notifier for Thunderbird? Mine still says its not TB 2.0 compatible. I've tried editing the extension to change the max TB version it works with but I can never pack the extension back up again and persuade TB to install it.

Patched the bug probably, not necessarily lifted the extension.

Yup. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4pre) Gecko/20070514 Thunderbird/2.0.0.4pre ID:2007051404

Odds are NTT will make it work. Bumped maxVersion form here anyway.

Er thats what I meant to say. Sorry. Its about time I have to say. Such a minor thing to fix surely? One of my lecturers moaned about that problem 2 years ago. I emailed him the link to the extension and heard nothing back from him. Went and checked with him after Easter to see if he'd sorted it. Turned out he had; he just didn't reply to say thanks. You can guess what I think of him now. ;)

Thanks. Will give that a try. Currently browsing the Mozilla Thunderbird addons page. Its a pity that Thunderbird sits in the shadow of Firefox. I think Thunderbird is a cracking program and deserves a higher profile.

It was originally by design, and the patch (adding a pref to disable it) landed too late to catch the 1.5 branch, so it had to wait till 2.0.
The problem (or advantage, depending on perspective) is these things won't generally land in the middle of a branch's lifetime - adding/changing prefs, in say 1.5.0.4, could cause all sorts of carnage with extensions. 2.0 took longer from beta to release than was really ideal, I guess...

Looks vaguely like:
  • #214114 [Thunderbird:Mail Window Front End]-Double-click on folder opens new window AND goes to new messages. [All]

Its a pity that Thunderbird sits in the shadow of Firefox.

Quite, especially in terms of the number of folks working on and testing it.
Sunbird and chums are also very much treated like the poor relation which is a great shame, but FF makes MoFo a good bit of money...
