Mozilla Or Opera?

download both of the browsers; firefox and opera 8.5 (iirc) and see which you prefer, each has both good attributes to win you over ie, or something similar, i prefer firefox over opera, although i can't comment for your personal preference.

Linux based? I honestly don't know.

Mozilla might have originally come from Linux. I'm not sure.

Mozilla is getting less safe as millions of people use it and hundreds of people are trying to find exploits in it every day.

Opera's quite a lot smaller than Mozilla so it's probably more safe at the moment.

Got both installed, still quite like firefox over opera tho, maybe that'll change once I have a chance to play around with opera a bit more

I think I prefer firefox, but i'm using opera at the moment.

I like the way you can get all sorts of extras/add-ons etc for firefox. The trouble is that i prefer to have about 10 tabs open at one time, and after a while the memory leak slows my computer down, thus I moved to opera. It's a little bit simpler but i like it.

I prefer Firefox. I've been using it for over two years, and honestly wouldn't change to another browser unless it really offered me something special.

The huge range of add ons are just one of the things which are making me stay, not to mention the quick patches (due to it being open source) and features built in (RSS, tabbed browsing, etc).

Opera has more eye candy with the default theme though, if you aren't the type who likes getting another skin.

Get Firefox here. :)

I use opera, mainly because of the memory problems in firefox. It runs almost exactly as I want anyway, whereas firefox took a fair bit of tweaking. There isn't a whole lot of difference in it, but I've just gotten used to it more now since I use it at work too.

i switched to opera a few weeks back, and it has everything that firefox has, i've not had a single crash and it seems faster and uses less memory.

the only thing it lacks is an adblock function as good as firefox.

I'm giving Opera a try out and at this point I'm not that keen on it, although I may end up liking it if I keep at it, but it just seems a bit off a faf compared to Firefox.

I use FF and have done for a good long while now. I tried Opera when they released a free trial or something (not too long ago). I didn't really like it. The theme was all 'XP-ey' and it seemed like it was trying to do far too many things (e.g. IRC client, email client etc.). Whats the point? I have my favourite software to do both of thsoe thank you very much.

I am a minimalist at heart, and i prefer to have the basic FF then customise it from there. Whereas with Opera it felt like i had to go round and turn everything off before i was happy. I'd consider myself an advance user (much like anyone here i guess), and it seemed like the week i'd delegated to give Opera a chance was spent more on fiddling about with the options, rather than actually using it. By then it was fairly similar to FF, so i thought there was little point!

Try both and see for yourself.

I've got both installed but Opera is just to check whether my blog works fine cross platform. I've tried opera many times in the past and find it too cluttered and uncustomisable.

I've used Firefox from day 1 and have never ever had a single issue with it at all. It has it's ram usage issues when visiting dodgy coded sites but it's nothing a restart will sort out. Extensions just make the browser untouchable imo as I can tailor the browser to run exactly how I want.
