Mozilla Thunderbird 3 is out

Anyone know where I can download Thunderbird 2 from? I don't think Thunderbird 3 is ready tbh, I tell it to only use my font in emails and I got all other crap fonts in emails and I hate that. Also the new search is useless! Not to mention the aggro I got trying to create my mail accounts, done it in 1 minute in Thunderbird 2, 3 tries to be clever and it isn't!

I was expecting a link on the thunderbird site to download v2, but I can't find one? Anyone have any ideas where I can get it would be cool!

I've always found Thunderbird to be excellent, but then I use IMAP and Outlook completely fails with it.

TB3 is pretty good, but I still prefer Outlook. Outlook 2010 fixes a lot of the IMAP issues, but still can't write to ICS calendars :-(

I've had this installed on my work laptop running XP for several weeks now. Much easier and quicker for me to see when I've got emails with Thunderbird than having to open my browser and log into the webmail.

So I thought I'd install Thunderbird on my home PC. W7 x64. Means I could get my two private email accounts and my work account in one app at home. I don't get the email popup notification and no email icon appears in the tray. I'll sometimes check the email folders in Thunderbird and there's new email there. Why am I not getting notifications?

I checked everything worked by emailing one of my private accounts from the other, made Thunderbird get mail and sure enough my email came through along with a notification popup and the email icon in the tray.

Be aware that when using Thunderbird, if you open it and sign in and then press the X icon, thunderbird closes completely and will NOT notify you about emails. The addon called MinimizeToTry is your friend here as you can configure that to make TB minimize to the system try when you press either the minimize or close buttons and it works perfectly!

I used MinimizeToTray with the old Thunderbird. I've got the new version of the plugin and it works. However Thunderbird is pinned to my start bar. I do know that closing Thunderbird closes it.

Howz it cope with newsgroups and combining multi-part messages ?

useful for binaries

i'm still on 2.something and was amazed how it is poor on that feature plus the newsgroups are 1) abbreviated unless you change a parameter 2) not in alphabetical order
