I travel by train a lot, and even when i set my mp3 player to full volume, i can barely hear the mp3's. Anyone know of software (preferably free and not a large download) that allows me to increase the volume of mp3s?
Audacity has this feature, although I'm not sure if it can do batch jobs.
dBPower amp should also be able to do this, although its not free it does have a free trial.
MP3Gain is what you want - use it to normalise the tracks at e.g. 98%. It is completely free and it does not actually modify the files, rather a special volume tag so it does not degrade any quality, and it can be undo'd any time.
