Currently looking at Ebay for headunits under £100, been looking at both Alpine and Sony, but are there any recommendations?

I've always used Alpine in the past and had no complaints, I unfortunately let it go with my previous car when I sold it

The Xsara also has steering wheel controls, if using an aftermarket headunit do I lose this function?

Kenwood do great mp3/wma players mate. I have one in my car atm. Think you can get them for around £100.

Pioneer all the way for me.

If you can, get your hands on a second hand 3600MP.

I recently sold mine for £30. Fantastic bit of kit with excellent SQ for such a budget unit.

Plenty loud enough to drive my Infinity comps without an amp.

Just got myself a Pioneer 4800MP for about £90, I'm really pleased with it.

I always liked the Pioneer's but something really bugged me about them. I always listen to my music via the shuffle function, I am prone to skip tracks etc and with "normal" headunits when you press on the 'next track' button it will shuffle to the next song, the Pioneer's just skip to the next track on the CD. Petty I know but it anniyed me!! Unless they have addressed the problem now??

Nope, they still skip to the next track not another random one, and I have to agree with you it is a small but annoying feature.
