'lo,

My MP3 library has gotten completely out of hand, theres about 30GB's of tracks all bunched into one folder, improperly tagged, and not sorted into folders or Artist/Album whatsoever (except for a few exceptions). Basically we're talking about a folder of several thousand loosely arranged individual music tracks here.

Is there any software out there that will re-arrange all this mess for me? :o Don't say iTunes, I hate it, and it tries to change the file type of far too much of my music for me not to want to use it. It also huffs with some file types.

Any suggestions?

I reckon an MP3 tagger will help you here. I recently re-ripped all my music using EAC and I used Media Monkey. You just define the folder and it adds your files. Then for each album you just get it to search the Internet for the MP3 tags. Once that is done you should be able to add the media to a Winamp library or library for another media player and it should all be sorted out for you.

Sounds like it. What I did was to select each album and then right click and search the Internet for the tags. You have a choice of some commercial sites I think.
