mp3 player not recognised in xp

i have tried to load my wifes mp3 player in to my usb port but i get a warning stating that the usb device is not recognised . I'm using xp pro with sp2 can any one advise as to how to get it to work as i have aload of music that i want to d/load onto it :confused:

Still plenty of mp3 players out there that need drivers installed to work. Try the manufacturers website.

its a mp man f 1000 , web site states that xp does not require drivers

Do you have USB 2 enabled? If not, and your MP3 player need it, then Windows will not recognise it.

i assume that i have it turned on the m/board is up to date and any other usb devises work OK

is the player brand new? or does it have music already on it? have you been able to test on another pc?
