ok what would be the best option for me to get:
an mp3 player - 30gb or so with video playback
OR
a new mobile - something that i can store music and videos on, what's the max capacity they can hold?

i don't know if i would need 30gb cause my journeys are never that long, but i don't know if phone batteries are good enough to play like the majority of the library (4gb or whatever) in one go without dying.

any suggestions for phones or mp3 players? around 150-200 MAX!!!

cheers

will just get a mp3 tbh.

save the phone battery for that important call. besides phones don't use standard 3.5" headphone plug so you can't swap the earphone when it breaks.

no but there are plenty of ways around that and there are phones that do use stantard jacks. the w810i being just one of them.

but anyway i wouldnt bother. i've only heard one phone that coems close to an mp3 player and thats the nokia i cant remember the model no. of. you know, that one with the 4gb drive lol. As a phone, i didnt like it. bulky and slow. Id recommend buying a seperate player:)

that's irrelivant - you get the adaptor with the phone. you can still use standard 3.5mm headphones with that phone from purchase:)
No its not irrelevent.
The claim that it had a jack is untrue. Yes it comes with an adaptor, but the fact remains it doesnt have a jack. Its not being pedantic either, considering that the few that do have jacks are praised to high heaven for having dedicated jacks.

it's being very pedantic lol. whether its onboard or part of the microphone jack doesnt make any difference. Actaully thats a good thing as it means you can still use the mic with your own earphones:)

Just get an iPod.

I have an 8GB iPod Nano and love it. Nice and light & small.

No point getting a phone for music as you will lose battery life so quickly.

Check out the available players from Creative, iRiver, iAudio, Sony, and Apple and see what you like the look of. They all have their pros and cons. Everyone loves Apple because they are the biggest, I'm just glad you asked "What Mp3?" rather than like most people "What iPod?". The only reason people have them here are for the iBuzz plugin :p .

I have/have had a 3rd Gen iPod, iRiver H10, Sony HD5, and a Sony NW-A608. I have played with an iAudio U2, Nano 8GB, Creative Zen, Newest iPod and they are all pretty good in their own way.

I use and like the Sonys at the moment but a lot of people hate their software, although I have no idea why. Sonicstage works fine for the the couple of mouse clicks it takes to transfer songs. If you want something for the gym/running/somersaults then check out the Nano or the NW-A608 (not quite so catchy lol) as they are both flash players and less affected by skipping music.

If you are not overly concerned with style, just want to listen to music, and don't mind something that is 0.5cm thicker than the iPod go for an old Creative Zen, good players, just a bit chunkier/heavier than the iPod equivalent.

Once you decide on an mp3 player then you'll need to decide on some headphones to replace the junk you get with the player - some Sennheiser CX300's are recommended from the budget users. I use Shures (E3c) although they are expensive outside of auctions.
