mp3 player that can encode?

a workmate wants a portable mp3 player that he can wire up to his hifi and encode from cd/tape/vinyl


and recomendations ?

The old iRiver H100 series does this. Not sure of any recent ones that do though.

My iRiver iFP790 does - so does the sony S705 (only atrac recording).

Best bet is to find a cheep minidisk recorder!
