MP3 problems...

Can someone tell me how on earth I begin to troubleshoot this?

My MP3's break up when playing - using 32 bit Vista, and built in AC'97.

Doesn't matter if I use media player, or iTunes. Also tried moving them to my SAS drive instead of the SATAII Seagate they are on now, and exactly the same happens..

It's really winding me up!!

Tried updating your AC97 Audio Drivers?

EDIT: Try this driver from Realtek: AC'97 Vista Driver

I'm using that driver :-(

I'm thinking of buying a X-FI....

Will it fix it though?!

Is it every mp3 or just a few (some of mine do this and I have assumed its just the software trying -and failing - to encode fast enough compared to the physical speed of the drive)

x-fi still has majorly lacking drivers for vista
