Sorry if this is the wrong place :)

Anyway, my music files are in a real mess. I downloaded a program called AudioManage to try and get them in some order. At first I thought it was quite a cool program, until I came to put the sorted files onto my sony walkman (NW-A3000)

To cut a long story short, all the tags are wrong, folders are in a mess, I don't know where to start.

So, how do you manage your music folder(s) and what programs do you recommend to sort it?

Added to that is the fact that SonicStage is a load of pap!!!!!!!! Any alternatives?

I just use WMP. It actually works well, especially for ripping. I'm afraid if you've got loads of music and it's in a mess you might just have to sit down for a couple of hours and sort it all out. It's worth it though.

Mp3Tag is very good, it looks at Amazon.com for the music info and Album art and saves it to the tags.

Also has an auto numbering Wizzard and file name to tag coverter and such.

I normally arrange my rips into folders.

I use Foobar2000 for tagging. FreeDB support is built-in, so if you have whole albums, you only need to right click, select freedb and it'll do the job more often than not.

If that fails, then the built in masstagger is a powerful tool for tagging. It has some pre-built script like auto-numbering but it also has a nice script I commonly use called "guess value from file names".
The masstagger is not limited to tagging, it can also re-arrange your music files if you take the time to learn how it works (there is a learning curve there).
