Stuck media centre on one of my pc's to get some full functionality with my xbox 360 and thought i might as well go the whole hog and sort out all my mp3 tags while i was at it. It doesn't appear to be working quite correctly though:

Firstly, the Cafe Mambo album (as well as quite a few others) has a separate album entry for each song but i cant see anything in the tags that would do this. You can see with the Anthems of Old Skool CD's though that it is working properly for them as it lists just 1 per cd with Various as the artist. How can i get the ones with multiple entries to become just 1 album?

Secondly, just at the bottom of the list is one from a Christmas album. All others in the Album are in the one which has an artits of Various apart from that 1 song. I cant see anything differently in the tags to suggest why.

Lastly, when i change the tags to fix the above problems will media player automatically update or will i have to kick off a re-sync process at all?

p.s
Ignore the Pavarotti song in the U2 album, i've fixed that already (no idea how it got that way in the first place though lol).

Thanks in advance.

try grouping the library by album? that's the only option i can see that works. it seems wmp has a very limited capabilities when it comes to arranging your music....:p

all my music is perfectly tagged and on various artist albums, i have an additional tag called

album artist

which is set to 'various'. this still displays all over the shop in wmp whereas in foobar, i get it just how i like it.... :D

edit: oops, just looking at your screenshot, it's already grouped by album. i think you'll need to look more closely at the tags as mine doesn't look like that. even though mine at least only shows one entry per album it's still not right as it's displaying the track artist rather than the album artist tag....

well it should be easy enough. just looking at wmp's advanced tag editor at least there is pre-defined 'album artist' tag so you can do the whole lot in one go. :)
