Not sure if this is better here or Home Cinema. Probably here.

So, I'm rebuilding my OS for my HTPC and want to sort out all the filter stuff when it comes to playback of DVDs and BDs in Media Player Classic Home Cinema.

As it stands at the mo, I only have the TV to output sound. Using TMT 3 it seems to know what output I'm using and adjusts the BD audio track accordingly. If I use MPC-HC it sometimes has picture and no audio.

I'd like to configure it so that I can watch and listen to DVDs / BDs / MKVs, etc using the best filters for my TV. AV Receiver will be my xmas pressie to myself.

What are your configs?

When you say it sometimes has picture but no sound - do you mean that it always doesn't work for some files or it works intermittently for all files?

Re:filters do you mean output renderers? If so you should be using EVR custom.

If you mean intermediate filters like ffdshow then this is not really necessary with MPC-HC and I would just leave at the default settings for high quality files with perhaps some deniose filtering for low quality sources.

You should probaby be using DXVA for sources that support it which means that CPU usage will be super-low BUT you can't actually use any external filters.

Hmm, Not sure. I think it is the way i make my MKV files. In TMT, it works out that I only have 2 channels so uses the correct audio track accordingly. In MPC-HC this doesn't happen so if I use the guides on the interwebs for MPC-HC they usually set the filters up for people to pass their audio through to an AV receiver, which I don't have
