I pick up my MR2 on Wednesday, it's a GTi-16 T-Bar with leather which i assume is the top spec. I just wondered what was the standard ICE set up in this model?

When i was looking at the car there wasn't anywhere to put a CD in the headunit but it did have a button labelled 'CD', is there meant to be a CD Changer anywhere? There definitely wasn't one in the boot but i forgot to check under the seats. Could it be there?

I assumed the previous owner had taken it out for himself but wasn't sure where the 'normal' places are for a CD Changer.

Dude, nice purchase :)

I'm still without mine!

Go over to mr2oc.co.uk and register there, plenty of information. They did come with CD changers IIRC, and it might be located under the seat, not sure tbh.

Being a t-bar, i'd doubt it'd be on the boxes behind the seats (lacking in space to put the roof otherwise!)

My vote would be the boot or under the passenger seat IF it does have one.. On my travels I didnt actually find one with a CD-changer though, it was tape / CD.. nowt else.

The OEM sound system is pretty good already actually, none of this french rubbish! After 13 years it still sounds great on the original speakers (i think). What colour did you go for btw?

It's a Rev 5 in Black  I'll make a seperate thread on Wednesday, i didn't want to make a thread and have no pics in it :o

Tbh a CD changer is something i would have thought the dealer would know about, so i doubt there is one. Did any 2s come with just a Tape Deck?

Many of them came with just a tape deck, but I dont know if that was as late as the rev5. Some rev3s came with just tape decks I think..

I'm eagerly awaiting your thread on weds

GTi-16 the non turbo version, i always get them mixed up, either way nice buy, also double din units are cheap enough on e-bay or convert to single din :)

Yeah it's the non turbo version. Insurance on the Turbo would have been ok, just the extra petrol put me off, they cost slightly more from what i can see and it's my first RWD car anyway.

Ditto...

Is it replacing the Coupe?

Yep.

Nioce.

I hope you have better luck than what I've had with mine.

Had it 2 weeks now, drove it for about an hour in total.

Yeah, think i saw your posts on mr2oc.co.uk (and on here of course) :(

Hope you get it sorted mate. Out of interest, was it a private sale?

It was yeah. Although whether the ex-owner is liable for the faults remains to be seen. Might just be the incompetent garage. It's at Toyota now...

Will update my previous thread when It's fixed anyway! All these lovely sunny days I could have had the T-Bar off, I just know it will be raining when I get it back :(

Is yours the UK model? Do you get it Wednesday then?

I wouldn't have thought you'd have any come back at all with the previous owner unfortunately :(

Yeah it's the UK model. Was tempted to call it a GT T-Bar just to annoy Mike ;)

Should be collecting it on Wednesday barring any unforeseen events!

Need to get that sig updated now ;)

I've just had a quick scan on MR2OC, that sucks andy :( If it makes it any better, I havent had the weather to take my t-bars off for the last two weeks!!

I enjoy driving my '2 but theres so many bits you need to check before you buy! I've just had the suspension set up, feels SOO solid on the road now.

Serj, I would thoroughly recommend getting the car down to a garage just to check the suspension alignment when you get it. For £20, the reassurance that you're getting the best grip available is nothing. I thought the grip on mine was good till I had it setup..

Good tyres do well too...

Dont you dare. ;)

It's getting full works whilst in the garage, full service, cambelt changed etc etc

So when I do get it back It will be nice not having them things in back of my mind!

Can't wait!

Ahh hadn't thought about getting the suspension aligned. Where's the best place to get it done? Can Kwik Fit be trusted with that sort of thing?

I'm not sure what to do about tyres yet. The alloys on the car at the moment are aftermarket 15s. Rev 5 wheels seem pretty rare so i might go for some Rev 3 15s instead.

What tyres do you recommend? I'd like some GS-D2 Eagles (pretty sure D3s aren't available in 225/50R15) but i don't know how much they are and finding a set might be tricky as I think they're coming out of production.

Toyo Proxes seem the best bet but apparantly the wet performance is dire. I've heard good things about the Falken ZE-512, they are fairly cheap though

Any thoughts?

I have some Toyo T1Rs on at the moment, come well rated from IMOC and I cant fault them. They arent eagle F1s, but they are also around £30/tyre cheaper.

A lot of places are stopping production of the rev3 rear profile apparently (according to a garage i visited) and Eagles arent available in 225/50/15s

I wouldn't trust kwik fit to replace a tyre, let alone a suspension setup. Ideally, it needs to be done using a laser-alignment tool. A specialist tyre place should have one in your area though. I can recommend one in hampshire if you're ever in the area!

mine was on top of that box, lol :D

1st thing i binned so i could put the t-tops there :)

i recommend F1's, not had a single problem with them in the last year & a half ;)

go for T1-R's if you have 15's though as no F1's are available in the right sizes now
