Had a discussuion with the lads a couple of times on this one. I personally think they have aged every well and I can be slightly biased as I have one and wheel it out when the sun shines. I like the MK I, love the MK II and am not fussed on the MK III.

The lass next door called it a hairdressers car too, for which I must smear dog poo on her door. ;)

Any opinions from MR2 owners and non owners ?

I think they still look good.

Never driven one, but wouldnt mind trying a turbo sometime.

Thats what I have. I love it to bits and at around 5.5 seconds 0-60, they are bags of fun to drive. The twin entry turbo gives it good mid range poke and for 3k, it's not a bad price for the car it is. There are far better motors out there, but I just have a soft spot for the MK II and have done for years.

It looks as it is - a 90s Jap sports car. The only thing that may make it look dated are the pop-ups because they were extremely popular on Jap cars and Porches but are no-where to be seen now.

It depends on what she means by 'dated' - I would say it looks like a modern classic...

The pop ups went by law if I recall rightly, they were banned in the USA, a huge market, so designs changed and had to.

Agreed Will.

The MR2 I have has the twin entry turbo so you get boost earlier. I am not a top end speeder, preferring acceleration but I am always careful on the bends as a RWD, mid-engined, 236bhp turbo charged car will bite if too much metal is given around the corner.

As for the poseur value, I see the point but thats not why I got it. It was a whim thing as my mate was seling his to get a Scooby and I always had an eye for the MkII. This one just happened to be a turbo. I love it but I treat it with respect as most performance car owners do.
